0.3.0 · Your yes on every send, and apps on request

0.3.0 · 1 of 17 · New in this release

Your yes on every send

She can write your mail, plan a call and change your vault. Sending is yours. Every step that leaves your house waits for one tap with your face, on exactly what she shows you.

How it works

  1. She prepares the mail, the message or the change, and shows it to you as it will go out.
  2. Your iPhone asks for Face ID on that exact request: the recipient, the text, the date.
  3. Only after your face says yes does it leave. Change one word and she asks again.

Good to know

  • Covers mail, calendar invites, moving or deleting in Google and Microsoft, WhatsApp messages, calls to someone else, and every write in your vault.
  • Mail from iCloud or your own server too: the app password stays in your house, a send still needs your face.
  • No phone at hand? It waits. Nothing goes out by itself.

Ask for an app, she builds it

You say what you need, in your own words. She builds a screen for it from IrisUI: the same parts our own app is made of. So it looks right, and it works the same on your phone, your Mac and the web.

How it works

  1. Say what you want: a grocery list per shop, your runs this month, who plays where on Saturday.
  2. She builds it from IrisUI parts: tiles, lists, tabs, a week or month calendar, charts, buttons and switches.
  3. It lands as a screen in your app. Tick something off and it stays ticked, on every phone.

Good to know

  • Seven house colours and four tile looks, so every screen fits the rest of the app.
  • She checks her screen before you see it: does it fit, is every line readable.
  • Topics with their own colour: mail, tasks, health, home, music, groceries, calendar, weather and more.
  • Swipeable pages, and a tap stays in the app.

Days with a rhythm

She no longer only waits for you. From the morning on she has a small rhythm with you: what is on today, how it went, and once a week what it adds up to. And not answering is not a no: a question waits for you.

How it works

  1. From 08:00 she gives you the morning list: what is on today, the most important thing first.
  2. One short check-in per part of the day, with buttons: done, later, not now.
  3. On Sunday she looks back with you. Goals get a weekly progress check, and once a month she asks if a goal still matters.
  4. No answer to a question? She asks again when you are back. After three tries it waits quietly on a card.

Good to know

  • A goal has a measure, a date and two reasons: a personal one and, if you want, a business one.
  • At most three questions a day from her side. Between 20:00 and 22:00 and at night she stays quiet.
  • Every question shows its timer, and you can snooze it right away.
  • Open questions are a stack you swipe through in the iPhone app.

An iPhone app that moves with you

The app now follows your finger instead of jumping. Screens slide along, the chat closes like a sheet you pull down, and what she is busy with stacks up as cards.

How it works

  1. Swipe from anywhere on the strip to move between your screens.
  2. Pull the open chat down from its top part to close it. Your other chats wait stacked behind the strip.
  3. Running loops and open questions stack up as cards, over a calm blurred backdrop. Swipe down to close them.

Good to know

  • A loop she makes shows live under her answer, and its page reads like a clock.
  • Small moments that say a job is done.
  • Sign in with Google, Microsoft, Facebook or X in the app.
  • Type / in the chat to see the commands and what they do.
  • Every request from your phone is signed with a key that never leaves the phone's secure chip.

The Mac pill is her orb

The pill at the bottom of your screen is now her orb. Move your mouse near and the bar grows out of it. When she works on your Mac, you see where: her own cursor, and marks she draws right on your real screen.

How it works

  1. Bring your mouse near the orb and the bar opens.
  2. When she uses your Mac, she moves her own cursor and draws a mark around what she means.
  3. Press Option twice and she stops at once, even mid-move.

Good to know

  • The stop button in the bar stops her too.
  • When the bar closes, her name comes back letter by letter.
  • Watch her desktop in a small screen next to the pill. Drag and resize it; it remembers where.
  • Sunglasses for her work screen: tint, intensity and contrast on a long press.
  • Her drawing glass is only on screen while she draws.
  • Using your screen and mouse stays a switch that starts off.

Android brings her questions to you

You no longer need to keep the app open. Her questions arrive as notifications, and your loops now have their own screen on Android.

How it works

  1. She asks you something. It pops up as a notification, even with the app closed.
  2. Open your loops: each one has a ring that fills up as you get closer to the goal.
  3. A question with several answers lets you tick more than one, then confirm once.

Good to know

  • Loops and questions look and work the same as on the iPhone and the web.

Your vault at a glance in Chrome

When she needs a password or a code from your vault, she asks you first. Now the Iris icon in Chrome shows how many of those questions wait, and one click shows whether your vault is unlocked.

How it works

  1. She needs a password from your vault? She asks you on your iPhone, and a number on the Iris icon in Chrome counts the questions that wait.
  2. Answer on your iPhone: Face ID says yes, a tap on No says no. The number goes down.
  3. Open the popup to see Unlocked or Locked. Click Locked and enter your vault PIN to unlock it.

Good to know

  • Face ID answers one question. Your vault PIN unlocks the whole vault.
  • Even with the vault unlocked, every secret still needs your yes on the iPhone.
  • While the vault is locked, nothing comes out of it.

Where to get each app

Until the iPhone app is in the App Store, you get it through TestFlight. Everything else you download from okayiris.com.

How it works

  1. iPhone: install TestFlight from the App Store, then tap the TestFlight link on okayiris.com and install Iris 0.2.0. New versions come in by themselves.
  2. Mac: download Iris 0.2.0 from okayiris.com. It updates itself.
  3. Android: download Iris 0.2.0 from okayiris.com. Your phone asks once to allow the install.
  4. Chrome: download Iris for Chrome 1.3.0 from okayiris.com and follow the steps on the page to add it.

Good to know

  • The iPhone app is with Apple for review before it can be in the App Store.
  • After each update, the app shows you once what is new.
  • The apps have their own version numbers, apart from Iris itself: 0.2.0 for iPhone, Mac and Android, 1.3.0 for Chrome.

One look everywhere

Iris used to look a little different in every place. Now it is one look: the dark glass and ice blue of the app, on every screen you meet her.

How it works

  1. The talk page, the Mac app and the iPhone app share the same parts and the same type.
  2. Your plan, the limit card and the page after signing in got the same look.
  3. Mails follow it too, with a dark version for mail apps that ask for one.

Good to know

  • Fewer places at once in the lane: talk, pins, recent, and the rest in a panel by topic.
  • One accent colour, so what you can tap is always clear.

New effects

She now shows what she is doing with light. A glow runs along the edge while she works, her orb can dance when something big happens, and new things draw themselves in.

How it works

  1. While she works, her edge light runs along the side of the screen.
  2. A big moment, a goal reached? Her orb dances.
  3. A new loop draws its ring round as it appears.

Good to know

  • Her light and her finger show where she is busy on a screen.
  • Something went wrong in a screen? A short red edge light, right by the buttons, says what.
  • The same neon effects in her screens and her visuals.
  • Screens update live while you look.

Updates that wait for you

A new version of Iris never cuts through a conversation. She waits until she is quiet, tells you first, and while it lands you see her orb gently filling up.

How it works

  1. A quarter of an hour before, a heads-up: Update today 12:15.
  2. Not now? One tap moves it to tonight at 03:00 or tomorrow morning.
  3. While it lands, her orb fills up: receiving updates, one moment. Then she is back.

Good to know

  • She only moves while she is quiet: no job running, no conversation going.
  • New versions go to a small group of houses first, before everyone gets them.
  • Your plugins come along with the update, and going back brings your old ones back.

All your mail and calendars

Google and Microsoft connect in one tap. iCloud and your own mail server now work too. And you can add a second account of the same kind.

How it works

  1. Pick Google or Microsoft and sign in once. No codes to copy.
  2. For iCloud or your own server, enter an app password. It stays in your house.
  3. Add a second Gmail next to the first. She keeps them apart.

Good to know

  • Sending from any of them needs your Face ID.
  • The page after signing in is in the Iris look, so you know where you are.

She holds back your secrets

Typed a password into the chat by accident? It never reaches her or the conversation log. You get a warning first.

How it works

  1. You send a message that looks like a password, a key, a card or ID number.
  2. She does not get it. You see a warning: keep it in the vault instead.
  3. Choose Don't send, or Send anyway if it was not a secret.

Good to know

  • A BSN is checked with the eleven test and a card number with its check digit, so normal numbers pass.
  • Passport and licence numbers only when the word is there too.

Leave on time

A meeting runs over and you forget the time. When an appointment has travel time, she watches the moment you need to leave.

How it works

  1. Ten minutes before you have to leave: a heads-up.
  2. At leaving time: an urgent notification.
  3. Five minutes later, still there? She calls you.

Good to know

  • Only for appointments with a place and travel time.
  • Done or cancelled? The steps stop.

A big job as a small team

Some jobs are too big for one go. She can split them up: one looks things up first, helpers each take a part, and a critic scores the result.

How it works

  1. A researcher gathers what is needed and writes it down for the others.
  2. Up to four helpers work on separate parts at the same time.
  3. A critic scores the result. Below 8 out of 10 it goes back for another round.

Good to know

  • Switched on per house. New roles need your tap.
  • What each helper costs is shown per job.

Charts in her answer

An answer with numbers now comes with a chart, a diagram or a slider you can move, right in the chat. And she checks her own picture before you see it.

How it works

  1. You ask something with numbers or steps in it.
  2. She draws a chart, a diagram or a slider in her answer.
  3. She looks at it first. Is it off, she fixes it before showing.

Good to know

  • A tap on it saves or notes quietly, without starting a new message.
  • Her voice skips the drawing and says what it shows.

Extra room and a friend

Run out of room this month? Pick a pack and buy it in one tap on the card you already use. And bring a friend: you both get credit.

How it works

  1. Pick one of three packs on the limit card.
  2. One tap buys it on your saved card. Or switch on refill, then it happens by itself.
  3. Invite a friend. When they pay, you both get $10 credit, and you both get a mail.

Good to know

  • Refill follows the pack you picked.
  • In the iPhone app you see the card; paying happens in the browser.
